eMurmur University FAQs

What is eMurmur University?

eMurmur University is an interactive auscultation teaching, training and testing platform for instructors & students.

Who is it for?

eMurmur University was designed to be used by medical and nursing schools, both at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

What do I need?

Instructors and students need the eMurmur University app installed on their smart device (free to download for iOS and Android). High quality headphones with good bass capacity are recommended to best hear the heart murmurs. For access, instructors or schools need to purchase an eMurmur University license.

How does it work?

Both students and instructors download the app to their smart phones or tablet (free to download from the App Store/Google Play). Using the app, the instructor logs in to create a virtual classroom which can be joined by students. Through the virtual classroom instructors can facilitate interactive teaching and perform live group testing; the instructor controls which heart sounds students receive on their phones. Students can access sounds through their own earphones and mobile devices.

Can it be used outside of the classroom?

Yes, eMurmur University creates its own virtual classroom that does not require users to be in the same physical space. This creates the opportunity for use in online programs, virtual learning, and in-clinic training.

How many users can be online in a virtual classroom at one time?

There is no limit to the number of students that can be online at one time and depends only on the type of license purchased by the school or instructor.
